As the description says, this is an ordinary multicache. But there were
lots of raspberries near the final point, so I had to come back and pick'em'up.
Found the two caches in Kirskaanniemi,
"Birgitta Trail East Side aka Birgitta Trail 12" and
"Kirskaanniemi aka Birgitta Trail 1". After some biking and a little bit of
trekking in very nice spring weather, both were easy to find.
I tried this cache some time earlier, but then there was too much snow.
Now the snow was not a problem any more, and I found the cache easily.
Visiting Helsinki for a couple of days, what else would I do than search geocaches?
First I found the "The Incredible Traveling Railway Station" in Pasila, quite a standard implementation. Walk from Pasila to downtown was not a huge success in geocaching sense, but the weather was very nice. First I didn't find "Alppipuisto", then I didn't find "Lintsi" (too many people around), tried "Alppipuisto" again and still didn't find it. I managed to find "Tram 2 and 2V, Linjat", but that was the only one I found on that trip, as I didn't bother too hard with "Valoa sokeille - Ljus åt de blinda", "Ravintola Kaisaniemi, Helsinki" and "Helsinki Railway Station". They were all in places with too many people around.
The next day I returned to Alppipuisto, and found the cache without any trouble. I wonder how I managed to miss it previously.
On the day following the previous Kaukajärvi tour I went and got the
couple of caches I didn't seek earlier.
The location of "Kaukajärven soutustadion" was not very nice,
with broken beer bottles lying around, and I had to read the hint to find it.
In "Isolampi" there was a lot of geo-erosion, but with the hint
I found it quite fast.
It's amazing how fast time goes when you are geohunting. I spent nearly five hours walking around Kaukajärvi, almost without noticing the time or distance. Results: Found "Voimalenkki", "Oravametsä", "Haiharan taidekeskus", and "Haiharan puisto". I tried to find "Rock" too, but couldn't. All of those were very usual ones, nothing spectacular, but I got a lot of fresh air, sunshine and exercise and found some new walking paths so it was well worth it.
A couple of finds in Hääkivi area in Lempäälä: Multicache "Hääkivi aka Birgitta trail 14" was fairly easy to find by following the footsteps in the snow from one stage to another. The cache itself was very well done, but the way there was a bit too exciting. The other cache, "Hääkiven kalmisto" was a very easy one.
On the same trip I checked out a couple of locations in Lempäälä downtown, but there were too many muggles around, so I left them for another time.
I wanted to get some fresh air on a sunny winter vacation day
and headed for a couple of caches: The first one, "Never sleeps" was
probably somewhere under the snow and remains unfound,
but the second one, "ex Herwood" was
easy to find by following a path in the snow.
I've forgotten to tell about these finds here, as if anyone was interested. Anyway, results of another evening geohunt about a month ago:
Found "CITO Suomensaari -Puhdistettu-", "Postia Allanille" (this one was funny), "Siivikkala" and "Keissaari" in Lentävänniemi and Siivikkala area, but didn't find "Childhood memories in Lentävänniemi" (too much snow). Found also "Church of Lielahti".
In Teivo area we first tried to find "Akun tehdas", but it turned out to be too difficult for us this time. The next one, "Teivon ravirata" we didn't find either, again too much snow, but the view was great. "Dead or alive" we did find.
It's been a bit quiet on the geocaching front recently. A few caches found
anyway on business trips: Old Mill in Turku and
Pine Motel - Easy Drive In for Travellers and Rest Stop of Linnatuuli on the
way back from Helsinki.
